Elevate has gone VIRTUAL!
Invite your friends, and join young people in Years 10 and 11 from across Guildford Borough every Monday afternoon from 3pm to ‘play, learn and serve’.
What is Elevate?
Each week a group of Year 10 and 11’s meet to ‘Eat, Learn and Serve’ as part of our Young Leader’s Programme. As ‘Eat’ won’t be possible at present we will substitute in ‘Play’, whilst continuing to create a space to ‘Learn’, in turn empowering young people to ‘Serve’.
Each week we will be playing games, running interactive skills sessions and encouraging young people to think about those who are in greater need than them.
Each week they will have a space they can meet, have fun, and catch up with their friends in a safe and fun environment. Activities will include games like an indoor scavenger hunt, pictionary, quizzes night, planning acts of kindness for neighbours and learning how to maintain a positive wellbeing.
In the coming weeks as young people have an increasing amount of time on their hands, this is an opportunity to be involved in something fun, productive and which fosters community. We know this may be a challenging time for many young people so we encourage you to extend the invite to any friends who would like to join. They just need to follow the same steps to sign up.
When and how does it take place?
We will meet every Monday at 3pm, for games, chat and challenges to give young people a chance to let off steam, help relieve social isolation and improve their emotional wellbeing.
The sessions will take place through a secure invitation-only portal via ZOOM and are only open to those who have booked and given consent.
The session will last no longer than an hour and will be hosted by Matrix youth workers. All our Youth Workers have been safely recruited, including completing an enhanced DBS check and sessions will be monitored by our Designated Safeguarding Lead (Misty Bower).
How does a young person join?
Just follow this link to book a place. Then, each week, you will receive a link to the Zoom Elevate session via email, so you can join. For safeguarding purposes it is important to note that your child will require the ability to join this call using video.
Disclaimer: any inappropriate behaviour will result in the young person being immediately removed from the online session.
